June 21, 2009: Midsummer Celebration Join us at Maywood to celebrate the first day of summer! Meet at the fire ring at 10:30 a.m. for calling the corners. Susan Urban provides the music. Marc Adams is the author of eight books including his award-winning autobiography, The Preacher's Son, five collections of poetry, and The Do's & Don'ts of Dealing with the Religious Right. Reared in a cultish, fundamentalist Baptist home, aware that he was gay by the age of seven and weaving his way through religious schools (including Jerry Falwell's Liberty University) and reparative therapy techniques, Adams started his journey to self-acceptance at age 23. We will have informational kiosks plus cool re-purposed items for sale!
